Apple iPhone 3 is HTML 5-friendly

18th June, 2009

Article

Good news for those of us who can’t wait for HTML 5 to gain wider implementation is that version 3 of Apple’s iPhone software, officially released yesterday, uses a browser (Mobile Safari) that is HTML 5-compatible.

Not that this is going to push HTML5 into the mainstream just yet, but every little helps and will hopefully bring the day a little bit closer when web designers/developers will be able to confidently use the new markup elements in everyday sites, not just those fancy experimental ones that show off what can be done… if only Internet Explorer 6 would just fall over and die gracefully.
