Shark Attack 2009 goes live

26th March, 2009

Article

About a year ago we revamped this site; it was intended as a short term holding position until we found the time to upgrade the design to a blog-based format. We figured maybe 6 weeks.  But one thing came after another, work of course took precedence, and it kept being put to the back of the queue. Well, much later than anticipated, we finally got there.

This site revamp launched about […looks at watch…] 90 minutes ago. it’s not perfect, and there are some issues still to fix but, like all these things, if we waited for it to be flawless then it would never get launched. A website is an ongoing beast, after all, and this one will get some of the wrinkles ironed out of it over the coming days and weeks. For example, at the time of writing, all of the pages with flash animations at the top have the same animation. And the same 3 buttons alongside it. We’ll put a bit of variation in there soon. Similarly, we’re already thinking about how to improve the case studies pages so as to get the sample images more front-and-centre. But as previously noted, the time came when it was just “launch or be damned”.

The main point of the redesign is to enable Shark Attack to post occasional articles on design-related subjects and to update our visitors on the latest projects and goings-on at the Shark Attack studio. entries will appear as and when we have something to say; if there are fallow periods then so be it, although we realise that blogs require a certain regularity, so we’ll try to keep them to a minimum. But we don’t want to get into the position of posting dross just to hit a theoretical entry quota.

Lastly: the previous, static incarnation of this site had a half dozen or so blog-esque news articles on the home page . For the sake of continuity we’ve elected to keep them on as the first few ‘proper’ blog articles — backdated — just to get the ball rolling. If you fancy commenting on them then feel free. Gravatar acount holders will be pleased to know that the commenting system is all ‘Gravatar-ed up’.

And obviously, if you find any glaring problem with the site, do please let us know.
Thanks.
