CASE STUDY: Dina Carroll music packaging

album cover
With production in the studio beset by delays, the eponymous album cover for singer Dina Carroll went through a number of iterations over quite a period of time. The end result, however, was appreciated by all.
Due to a protracted album editing process, two versions of this album were designed, almost a year apart and using completely different photo shoots. The first was richer and more visually playful, with stronger colours and textures; the second took a more graphical route, with transluscent vertical bands sweeping the page in greenish tones.
(The second version was ultimately used, which I think had a stronger cover but less engaging inside spreads).

Single covers
Only one single came from the album, available in two CD formats as was standard practice at the time. The photo set and stylistic elements used on the album were retained here, including the green tones and the vertical banding of transluscent colours.
In hindsight, the weird greenish tones give the images something of a pre-Matrix look… though of course nobody had heard of the Matrix back then.
